IGP to RPO, DPO: Rein in organized gangs, street criminals

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar has issued special orders to RPOs, DPOs to control crimes in all districts of the province.

The IGP directed that concrete measures should be taken on war footing at district level, especially in those districts where crime incidents are on rise.

IGP Faisal Shahkar while ordering to speed up crackdown to prevent street crime in all major cities including Lahore, said that the organized groups involved in motorcycle and car theft, dacoity and robbery should be brought to the law at the earliest.

He directed that field officers should regularly review the cases of murder, kidnapping for ransom, robbery and other serious crimes including rape and bring them to their logical conclusion by ensuring the culprits are punished with effective follow-up.  The IG Police ordered to use all resources for security of mourning processions and Majalis on the occasion of Chehlam of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) across the province.

He directed that the supervisory officers should monitor the security arrangements of the sensitive Majalis and processions and strict legal action should be initiated under the Loudspeaker Act.

He stressed upon observing zero tolerance against propagation of malicious contents. IG Punjab directed that fool-proof security arrangements should be made on occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Usman Ali Hajwiri Data Ganj Bakhsh in Lahore and a special security and traffic plan should be adopted for the safety and convenience of pilgrims and devotees from all over the country.  IG Punjab praised the Lahore Police for arresting the main suspect involved in the abuse and murder of a young girl Maria in Lahore. Similarly, the Punjab Police’s full participation in rescue and rehabilitation activities in the flood-affected districts of South Punjab were also appreciated. IG Punjab directed to continue these relief activities of Punjab Police by utilizing all resources. IG Punjab expressed these views when presiding over the video link conference held at the Central Police Office.

During the meeting, the Additional IG South Punjab gave a briefing about the situation of kidnapping for ransom and other crimes in Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan and other districts. Upon which, IG Punjab directed to beef up Intelligence-based operations for clearing south Punjab especially Katcha area from criminals.  He stressed upon supervisory officers to personally pay field visits for monitoring of anti-crime operations.

All Additional IGs, CCPO Lahore, DIGs and other office posted in CPO were present while Heads of Units, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province participated through video link.
