Pakistan receives 10 shiploads of edible oil from Indonesia, Malaysia

ISLAMABAD: 10 shiploads of edible oil from Jakarta and Malaysia will arrive in Pakistan in the next two weeks in the wake of a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indonesia President Joko Widodo held on June 10.

Under the direction of the prime minister, a delegation from Pakistan held successful negotiations with Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade for the import. Minister for Commerce and Production Syed Murtaza Mehmood met his Indonesia counterpart, Sharif’s office said in a press statement.

The visiting delegation also included Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association chairman Tariq Ullah Sufi and member Abdul Rasheed Jan Muhammad.

On Tuesday, a shipload of 30,000 metric tons of edible oil would sail for Pakistan.

A total of 0.25 million metric tons of edible oil is being supplied to Islamabad from Indonesia.

Jakarta, at the request of Pakistan’s delegation, swiftly acted upon all the issues, the statement said.
