Gang-rape accused of Bahauddin Zikriya arrested by Railways police ‘by the sweat of their brow’: IGP Railways  

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Pakistan Railways, Faisal Shahkar Tuesday said that the accused of tragic train incident have been arrested by railways police and their DNA samples have been taken to go further into investigation.

Addressing a press conference here, the IGP said the accused, namely, Zahid, Zohaib and Aqib, had turned their cell phones off right after they heard that first information report is being registered against them.

“The accused promptly diffused in far-flung areas of punjab province in order to remain at large but, railways police endeavoured for their early arrest and nabbed them successfully within hours. The accused made them inaccessible for police to catch them and hid them beyond the black stump in districts of Punjab,” he added.

The IG railways also extended his gratitude to Minister, Secretary and CEO railways for their indispensable assistance in catching the culprits.

“Railways administration will also be advised to install security cameras in all trains so that these types of incidents may be averted in future,” he added.

“PRP also facing acute shortage of the staff that problem will be addressed in the near future by the stake holders,” added the IGP railways.

Further, DIG South Aga Muhammad Yousaf  flanked by IG revealed that security and administration of the train, Bahauddin Zikriya, is under the private enterprise and among the arrested are two ticket examiners and third is a train manager.
