Three terrorists killed in N Waziristan IBO

LAHORE: Security agencies on Tuesday killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“These terrorists were involved in target killing, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, fire raid on security forces, and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions,” the military’s media wing added.

“Sanitisation of the area was carried out.”

On February 3, security forces and police acting on intelligence raided suspected militant and separatist hideouts, triggering shootouts that killed seven insurgents.

Kamran Hussain, an official with the counter-terrorism department (CTD), said in a statement the first raid took place in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The raid left three militants from the proscribed Afghanistan-based Balochistan Republican Army (BRA) dead, he said. The group is known for targeting troops, police and gas pipelines in Balochistan.

Hussain said officers also seized a cache of weapons in the raid.
