Days after Sunday’s All Parties Conference (APC), the Rahbar Committee of the opposition met on Wednesday and agreed on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s name to head the Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance.
According to a local news outlet, majority of the attendees of the meeting, which comprised 11 opposition parties, agreed on the JUI-F chief’s name as they believed that only he could lead the opposition effectively.
Reportedly, the meeting also decided that the alliance would feature a central and four provincial organisations and the names of leaders of the central and provincial organisations will be revealed in a few days.
The report further stated the opposition has agreed to expand the Charter of Democracy (CoD) and will hold public gatherings to exert pressure on the government.
