ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has said that the recent criticism of the government’s foreign policy by Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari has exposed the confusion of the current ruling party, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).
“The criticism poses a strong question mark on the PTI government’s ability to forge any policy, which is largely due to their cabinet choices. How can anyone be idiotic enough to make Shah Mehmood Qureshi the foreign minister?” asked the PPP vice president, and parliamentary leader in the Senate, Sherry Rehman.
She further underlined the confusion within the government ranks, saying that the appointment of Qureshi reflects the broader paradoxes within the party.
“They don’t realise what they have done in the past. They are completely unaware of their own selves. They just give statements without any self-reflection. They are so confused and self-contradictory,” Rehman added.
The senior PPP minister further added that the ruling party has clear faultlines, impacting the clarity and strategic force of Pakistan’s policy, spanning throughout state institutions, and aggravating crises everywhere.
“And don’t even get me started on handing over the economy to Hafeez Shaikh,” she maintained.
