ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday said that the number of active Covid-19 cases saw a decrease from 44,854 to 29,504, which amounts to a reduction by one-third during the last 24 hours.
In a statement, the NCOC said that 24 deaths occurred due to the virus in the last 24 hours, increasing the tally of nationwide fatalities to 5,787.
Pakistan has conducted 23,630 Covid-19 tests in the last 24 hours, contributing to a total of 1,844,986 tests conducted so far.
As a result, the country reported an increase of 1,487 registered cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, contributing to a total of 271,877 cases. Among these cases, 236,596 patients have recovered, and 1,316 patients are in critical condition.
The total reported cases in the country include 116,800 in Sindh, 91,691 in Punjab, 33,071 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,550 in Balochistan, 2,012 in Azad Kashmir, and 1,942 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.
By far, 15,535,790 Covid-19 cases have registered in 196 countries/territories. It has led to a minimum of 633,711 deaths across the globe, and at least 8,718,700 patients have recovered.
