ISLAMABAD: While it has ignored the salaried class in the federal budget, the federal government has decided to increase the salaries as well as allowances of the federal cabinet members for the next fiscal year 2020-21.
According to the budget documents, the Cabinet Division has increased the overall budget of federal ministers/ministers of state to Rs217 million from Rs214m. Expenses have been increased from Rs147m to Rs150m. The wage bill of federal ministers/ministers of state has been increased to Rs880m from Rs855m, similarly, the allowances have also been increased to Rs629m to Rs615m.
In addition, the government also increased the regular allowances from Rs558m to Rs554m, besides other allowances also surged to Rs710m to Rs610m.
Documents state that the advisers’ salary and allowances increased to Rs282m from Rs235m in which the operating expenses, including transportation, have been increased to Rs102m from Rs50m, respectively.
On the other hand, the Cabinet Division has proposed to decrease the pay and allowances of special assistants to the PM. Documents state that the government has decreased pay and allowances of special assistants to the PM to Rs286m from Rs295m in the next fiscal year.
Documents state that the government is paying Rs1.17m to four officers of special assistant to the PM, overall, the expenditures of the SAPM office is Rs13m.
