–Pandemic spread and religious gatherings not connected, PTI minister claims
–Demands Sindh govt to allow mass movement for Eid celebrations
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President (VP) and leader of the parliamentary party in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the masses of Karachi are being punished so that the government of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan fails.
Addressing a press conference at the Insaf House on Sunday, flanked by Sumair Mir Sheikh, Ali Mirjat and other party leaders, Haleem said that the Sindh government did not allow people to pray in the holy month of Ramzan and tightened lockdown for worship places to motivate citizens to go against PTI.
Criticising Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah for running a daily bulletin for citizens, he said that that is all the Sindh CM does and added that the PM gave Rs44billion to the people for protection against coronavirus.
He alleged that Rs15,000 billion would be recovered from the Sindh chief minister’s ‘key’ and that he would step down as the provincial chief minister.
The PTI minister said that the masses of Sindh should curse the provincial government, which under a conspiracy closed down mosques in the province. “As per the teachings of Quran, closing mosques is a cruelty and people who are closing mosques would be disgraced. Why can’t mosques be opened for the prayer goers under SOPs?” he asked.
“They did not even give permission to processions and when the processions were staged, they arrested people. Prayers goers are suffering both in mosques and imambargahs,” he added.
Haleem opined that the pandemic was a global occurrence and its spread could not be blamed on religious groups gathering together to pray.
He also expressed his deep concern for the ban on public transport saying that extortion collection is on the rise to the ban.
He said cars are allowed to run but public transport is banned and demanded to open public transport under SOPs.
“How would workers go to their native towns to celebrate Eid?” he asked, adding that if the poor people cannot travel, there is no right of ministers and advisors to travel in luxury vehicles.
“The current situation in Sindh is a result of a conspiracy hatched by Murad Ali Shah and company. They are creating sectarian disharmony to topple the current government,” he alleged.
The PTI minister expressed his fear of sectarian riots hitting Sindh if the current policies are continued.
