PESHAWAR: Peshawar District Administration arrested 133 people from different localities of the district in a
crackdown on violators of lockdown, said a news release issued here Monday.
On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ali Asghar, Additional Deputy
Commissioner (ADC) Ishfaq Khan along with Assistant Commissioner (AC) Nauman Ali Shah inspected
shops and business activities at Ashraf Road, Rampura, Pipal Mandi, and other localities.
In the meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (AC) City Sara Rehman checked shops on University Road
wherein she noticed that a famous shop (R-Sheen) was doing business behind shutters that resulted in
the manager’s arrest whereas the shop was sealed.
Other ACs, including Dr Ihtesham-ul-Haq, Islahuddin and Rizwana Dar also inspected Charsadda Road,
Phandu Chowk and various localities of Chamkani, Pishtakhara and Bara Road.
Similarly, all additional assistant commissioners (AACs) carried out inspections in the respective areas of
their jurisdictions and arrested 132 persons over violation of lockdown, not keeping social distancing and
profiteering.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar DC has urged traders and shopkeepers to follow the guidelines announced by
the government and opening of shops within the stipulated time frame only.
He has also appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary movement outside their houses to
extend cooperation in the prevention of the spread of coronavirus, warning that legal proceedings would
be initiated against law breakers.
