Govt offending Opp to scuttle legislation on COAS’ extension: Iqbal

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday accused the government of not being fair in the matter of legislation regarding the army chief’s extension.

“The government is trying to offend the opposition so that legislation can’t be done in the 6-month period,” said the PML-N leader while talking to media. He added that legislation is possible only with the cooperation of the opposition parties.

“Imran Khan has already declared the opposition as non-patriotic and thieves,” added the PML-N leader.

“The federal ministers are continuing to malign the opposition which will only lead to divisions in the nation,” Iqbal said.

Commenting on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement regarding the economy, Iqbal said, “Imran Khan should rebuke rather than praising his economic team for what they have done to Pakistan’s economy.”

He added that PM Imran should not hide behind the army and army chief to hide his ineligibility as the institution is not only for PTI but the entire nation.
