Ex-CM Qaim gets protective bail in Bahria Town land issue

KARACHI:  Fearing possible arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Bahria Town Icon Tower land allotment matter, former chief minister of Sindh Sayed Qaim Ali Shah on Friday approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) for obtaining protective bail.

Shah stated that he got information through a TV channel that secretary Sajjad Abbasi had become a witness of NAB in Icon Tower land allotment matter. “It is said that Abbasi has become witness against me and others,” Shah said.

“I am ready to go to Islamabad on relevant forum, but it is possible that NAB might arrest me after leaving Karachi,” Shah said.

He requested the court for approval of protective bail for 21 days. The court, however, approved protective bail plea of ex-CM for 10 days against the surety of Rs 5 million.
