DUBAI – American singer Akon had 20% of his fee deducted for the concert on March 20 after it was revealed that Umar Akmal was present at the event, a statement issued by the organisers said.
Akon has also received “an official reprimand” from the organisers, and has been told that discipline and the interests of the vent should never be compromised. The singer pleaded guilty to the charge, apologised for his actions and accepted the sanction proposed by the manager.
According to reports, Akon has been told that given that Umar Akmal had been out attending the concert on Friday, he should have immediately stopped singing and ended the concert.
“We are glad that Akon has realised his mistake, and has accepted and apologised for his actions, which were clearly unprofessional and in no way can be ignored or overlooked,” the press release by the organisers said.
“We expect a high level of professionalism and commitment from our performers, and this action is a reiteration and timely reminder that any indiscipline shall not be tolerated or accepted.”
“We will not be making any further comment on this matter,” the statement added.
