No gas load-shedding during winter this year, decides ECC

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday decided that there will be no gas load-shedding during the winter.

The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umar in Islamabad during which it was also decided that 150-200 mmcfd of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) will be injected into the system to overcome the gas shortage.

In addition to that, gas load-shedding, especially in Punjab and Balochistan has hit the provinces every year due to the shortage of gas. Despite the authorities trying to overcome the shortfall, the issue has persisted.

Moreover, the participants of the meeting also decided to allow the Power Division to avail the Islamic Financing Facility by borrowing Rs38 billion.
