OSLO: Syed Tajamal Hussain Shah, Pakistani-origin Norwegian cricketer, has won the prestigious “Best Player of the Year 2018” award due to his outstanding performance in the Norwegian Premier League (NPL), held between May and September.
An award ceremony was held last week in Ski in which Secretary General, Norwegian Cricket Federation (NCF) Gry Bruaas honoured the cricketer with the award.
Shah, who is the vice-captain of Nation Cricket Club (NCC), while talking to media said that “he is thankful to Almighty Allah for this honour, which is also due to the blessings of his parents and cooperation of other members of his team.”
Shah took five wickets in one over including a hat-trick in a T20 game during the event. He conceived 21 runs in four overs and took seven wickets.
Also, in a 45-over game in the same tournament, he bowled 47 dot balls in the allocated 9 overs.
The 34-year-old cricketer, who is playing for Norway since 2002, has bagged several awards included “Best Bowler” award twice by NCF and NCC in 2016 and 2017 respectively. In a message, he said that “Norwegian Pakistani youth should join sports in order to make their life healthy and vigorous.”
