Govt sticking to Aasia deal, says TLP’s Afzal Qadri

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) patron Pir Afzal Qadri has claimed that Aasia Bibi, a former blasphemy convict, will not be allowed to leave the country until a decision on the review petition against her acquittal is announced.

In a Facebook video message, he claimed that Aasia Bibi was in the custody of security agencies even after her release as assured to their leadership by intelligence officials.

The TLP leader also claimed that the Supreme Court verdict barred Aasia Bibi from leaving the country till a decision on review petition, which is akin to putting her name on Exit Control List (ECL).

Interestingly, the SC judgement does not even mention any ban on Aasia’s travel.

He further claimed that the TLP leadership is following the case closely and they agreed not to hold sit-in only after they were assured of Aasia’s stay in Pakistan.
