Mani clarifies stance over controversial #MeToo comments

After Sadaf Kanwal, TV show host and actor Salman Sheikh, better known as Mani, has come under fire for his controversial take on the #MeToo movement which has taken the world by storm.

On Tuesday night, Mani put up a rather controversial image on his Instagram which made fun of the movement’s founder Tarana Burke. The image sparked outrage on social media and many called out Mani for his insensitive thoughts on the movement which is propelling a change for women across the world. The image has since then been deleted.

Just a few of the reactions:

Following the backlash, Mani took to Twitter to clarify his stance saying that he himself isn’t very active on social media, and this was the work of his PR “guy.”

“I would like to inform all my followers that I am not very much active on social media and was not aware that any such pic is posted on my Instagram. Would like to apologise on behalf of my PR guy who posted it by mistake. Please do help us improve in all aspects of life,” read his tweet.

However, the damage had already been done and people were unwilling to accept Mani’s apology.

“Wtff. Blaming PR. How typical!,” wrote a Twitter user in response.

“Is he even relevant enough to need a PR guy?,” wrote another.

Previously, last week, Mani’s wife, Hira was bashed when she shared how she got married to him. Speaking to Samina Peerzada on her talk show, Hira had revealed that she had cheated on her fiance and stolen Mani from her friend.
