Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan extended the deadline given to a special task force to prepare recommendations for a new local government (LG) system after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leadership failed to develop consensus regarding the issue.
The PTI leadership reportedly remained divided over the mode of elections and the proposed (LG) units’ size in a meeting that was chaired by the PM.
Non-party basis local government elections were also reportedly proposed and deliberated upon during the meeting.
