Richard Dawkins draws Fatima Bhutto’s ire for calling Azaan ‘aggressive’

Renowned British biologist and writer Richard Dawkins drew Fatima Bhutto’s ire for his post regarding the azaan, a call for prayer.

In a Twitter post, Dawkins, posted a picture of himself in front of a cathedral, comparing the sound of the church bells to the Muslim call to prayer.

“Listening to the lovely bells of Winchester, one of our great medieval cathedrals. So much nicer than the aggressive-sounding Allahu Akbar. Or is that just my cultural upbringing?” wrote the 77-year-old.

To this Fatima Bhutto replied curtly, “No, it’s your bigotry.”

Unsurprisingly, many others shared the same views as Bhutto and slammed the author for his ignorant comments.
