ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecommunication was apprised on Thursday that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) only had 10 experts to investivate cybercrimes.
FIA Cyber Crimes Director captain (R) Mohammad Shoaib told the committee, “The FIA National Response Centre for Cyber Crime (NRCCC) lacks the capacity to prevent offences related to the internet, such as internet bank fraud and lottery scams and offences committed on social media.”
The director also said, “One of the reasons for a high number of inquiries is that in most cases complainants, especially women, did not come forward to follow up on alleged offences committed against them.”
“FIA is in the process of inducting women investigators to resolve this problem,” he added.
