IHC restrains ECP from de-notifying PML-N senator

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from de-notifying Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mirza Mohammad Afridi.

The ECP had taken the decision to de-notify the senator because he still allegedly owed dues to the Social Security Department amounting to Rs1.7 million.

Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition.

Afridi’s counsel claimed that the ECP had not given his client ample opportunity for defence.
