PM orders honorarium for federal employees

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi issued orders that all employees of the federal government should be given honorarium equivalent to three basic pays for the financial 2017-18.

“The prime minister is please to order that all employees of the federal government shall be give honorarium equivalent to three basic pays for financial 2017-18. No exception shall be allowed for the payment in excess of ceiling in any case,” according to a notification.

The prime minister has desired that for the financial year 2018-19 onwards, a policy may be formulated by the new elected government after elections 2018, the notification reads. In the past, the employees of the Finance Division were awarded six honorariums, while the other officials of the federal government were getting only one honorarium.

However, the prime minister ended the disparity and directed that all the federal employees should be given honorarium equivalent to three basic pays. The decision to give three honorariums to all employees triggered a ‘shocking wave’ among the Finance Division employees, while the rest of the employees welcomed the decisions.
