Senate committee directs 30 ministries, divisions to correspond in Urdu: report

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Functional Committee on Less Developed Areas ordered 30 divisions and ministries to start corresponding in Urdu because some committee members cannot read English, reported a local English newspaper.

Committee chairman Senator Mohammad Usman Khan Kakar from the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) stated that it is unfortunate that all correspondence is being done in English when Urdu is the national language.

The committee held the meeting to discuss the issues less-developed areas in all provinces and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas are facing but committee member, Jamiat-i-Ulema-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Maulvi Faiz Mohammad, said that correspondence with him has been done in English and he had not been able to understand it.
