KARACHI: A couple was wounded after being shot by the girl’s father accompanied by four other men in the Shah Latif Town on Friday according to police, a local media outlet reported on Friday.
The couple had married out of their own volition a couple of years ago in Qambar district.
The indiscriminate firing led to Mohammad Yusuf and his wife Nawabzadi, in addition to their relatives Ahmed Khan and Mohammad Khan being injured. The victims were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
Nawabzadi sustained two bullet wound on her back while Yusuf received an injury on the chest, according to the hospital’s Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali.
Likewise, Mohammad Khan sustained injuries to his chest while Ahmed Khan received a bullet on his neck.
The couple had married in 2013 in the district on Qambar and had shifted to Karachi soon after and also have children, according to Shah Latif SHO (Station House Officer) Abdul Ghaffar.
However, the woman’s father, Siddiq, had refused to accept the marriage and attacked the couple on Friday.
While a case has been registered, no one has yet been arrested.
