PFA yet to approve filter plant in Sahiwal: report

SAHIWAL: A water filtration plant at Scheme No 2, Farid Town, has not been operational for the last three months and residents of the area have blamed the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) for delaying its certification, media reports have stated.

According to the residents the plant, set up by the Rotary Club in 2011, facilitated 500 houses. Club president Sultan Mahmood said the plant was imported from Germany.

Three months back, the PFA found arsenic content in the water and the club subsequently spent Rs80,000 to upgrade the plant but the PFA had not released its report.

PFA deputy director, Umair Sattar said that the sample would be checked and the report would be released in a week.
