LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday sealed various food points, production units and water filtration plants in a province-wide crackdown.

At least six renowned fish vendors in Lahore were sealed for using expired and used oil/ghee and serving stale fish.

PFA also sealed 11 production units in Faisalabad for using expired ingredients and lack of cleanliness. The units included those preparing nimko, sweets, children’s food and food colour.

In Bahawalpur, two major units involved in extracting oil from animal remnants were seized. Meanwhile, three fake water plants were sealed in Dera Gazi Khan.

In the ongoing week, PFA raided approximately 4000 places and took action against 200 food points.
