The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) confirmed reports that it has received around 52 objections on draft delimitation constituencies.
The initial delimitation plans for the national and provincial assemblies, based on the population census conducted last year, were issued by ECP on March 5 and had raised a lot of hue and cry among members of the national and provincial assemblies, who objected to the new delimitation.
It merits mention here that the process of delimitation of constituencies would be finalised by May 5.
Meanwhile, elaborating further on the objections raised on the delimitation process, ECP officials said that the commission had received around 25 objections from Punjab, 20 from Sindh and seven from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, objections to the delimitation were raised in Punjab from the constituencies of Lahore, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Attock, Kasur, Multan and Muzaffargarh. Meanwhile, objections were raised in Sindh from Khairpur, Shikarpur, Ghotki and Tharparkar.
