ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Saturday ordered an extensive investigation into the alleged corruption in a leading Lahore construction project, The Dependent has learnt.
In this regard, he summoned New Zealand citizen Brendon McCullum after taking notice of corruption cases and unlawful appointments in a Lahore project that he is spearheading.
According to Justice (r) Iqbal, NAB was consistently receiving complaints of corrupting the batting lineup and misuse of bowling resources. Hence, a thorough investigation has been ordered.
However, Justice (r) Iqbal gave clear instructions that the project should not be stopped from functioning during the investigation until sufficient evidence against them was collected.
It is pertinent to mention here that the McCullum led project is currently being developed in the Middle East, where the New Zealander is currently present as well.
McCullum will appear in NAB on March 5, when there’s no activity on his project.
Earlier, the NAB chairman reportedly said that the NAB is presently examining all cases around the project, including those from other cities as well.
Sources confirm that investigation on an Islamabad based project might be opened soon, with similar evidence found against it.
