ISLAMABAD: Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Monday said that Pakistan is celebrating the New Year with such fervour because of peoples’ achievements and resolve as a nation.
Major Ghafoor took to Twitter and said, “the jubilations and celebrations we see across the country tonight are indicative of our achievements and resolve as a nation. We owe it to them who gave their blood and lives for us. Remembering and thanking our ‘Ghazis & Shuhada’ for their noble sacrifices”.

Earlier, Major Ghafoor, in a tweet, quoted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa as saying that the year 2018 is of immense significance for Pakistan, both internally and externally with monumental challenges.

According to the army chief, challenges can be converted into opportunities in the New Year. He said that part of the challenges has been overcome and the remaining ones shall be done “together”. But amid all this, he said, “nothing can defeat the spirit of Pakistan.”
About the outgoing year, COAS said that it was a momentous one.
