Swimming banned at Karachi beaches on Christmas

KARACHI: The Sindh government has imposed a temporary ban on swimming and diving at the Karachi beach. The ban will take effect from December 24 and is said to be uplifted on January 2.

The notification issued by the provincial government has explained the apprehension of the loss of lives or a mishap on Christmas and New Year to be the primary reason behind the restriction.

The ban was put in place under the Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) upon the request made by the commissioner to the provincial government. It will extend to all the beaches or seaside areas in the Karachi division.

The Sindh government has directed the police to take a strict action against those who violate the ban.
