NAUNDERO: The headmasters of two major schools of Naundero and Kehar village complained here on Saturday that they were facing a shortage of teachers, particularly of important science subjects.
Despite informing higher education authorities, no step in this regard has yet been taken.
Government English Medium Model High School Naundero Head Master Manzoor Ali Mangi said that he wrote a letter to the Larkana school education director informing her that there was neither the compulsory science subject teacher, nor was there any teacher for physics, chemistry or biology in his school since last four years when the school started functioning, due to which 9th and 10th class students were suffering a lot. He added that over 500 students had been enrolled in his school.
Kehar village Government High School Head Master Shamsuddin Tagar said that there were no teachers for mathematics, science and information technology in his school hence the students were unable to get scientific knowledge in this world of scientific technology.
He said that three posts of Junior School Teachers (JSTs) were also vacant since long which had not been filled yet. He added that over 250 students had been registered in the school belonging to so many adjacent and surrounding villages of Kehar.
The headmaster also said that the computer laboratory had been established in the school but it was awaiting latest computers and the IT teacher. He added that at least 20 new computers should be supplied along with the teacher so that students could learn how to operate a computer and related information technology.
Meanwhile, teachers belonging to Naundero Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) Boys School Unit held a protest demonstration here on Saturday, demanding to post those teachers back who had been transferred out of Government Higher Secondary Boys School. The protesting teachers included Muhammad Yaqoob Kumbhar, Wasim Soomro, Parkash Kumar, Sattar Pahore, Mushtaq Mirani, Akram Channo, Khalil Bhutto and others.
They said that as many as 1,927 students were enrolled in the school which too was facing acute shortage of teaching staff. They added that instead of fulfilling the requirement of teachers, the education department bosses transferred many teachers out of the school to far-flung areas, which was unjustified. They demanded cancellation of their transfer orders or else, they warned, they would start a mass agitation.
This all shows that education department has still to go a long way to overcome the shortage of teachers, required facilities in schools of the province and to improve quality and standard of education.
