KARACHI: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday acquitted a man who had spent 14 years in jail on a false murder charge.
During the court proceedings, the SC observed that the prosecution had failed to prove their case.
The convict Shaukat had been accused of being involved in the murder of a man named Sagheer in Karachi’s Korangi area in 2003, for which the trial court had handed him a life sentence.
Subsequently, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had rejected an appeal filed by Shaukat, upholding the trial court’s verdict.
