Judgement reserved on Zardari corruption case

RAWALPINDI: Hearing of the corruption case against former President Asif Ali Zardari has been deferred by an accountability court in Rawalpindi till August 22.

The NAB special public prosecutor and the defence counsel Farooq H Naik completed their arguments about the acquittal plea filed by Zardari, Co-chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The hearing has now been adjourned till August 22.

NAB filed a reference against Zardari and his late wife, Benazir Bhutto, in 2001 but was closed in 2007 after the issuance of an NRO by the former president Gen (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf.

Supreme Court, in a later verdict, ordered to reopen the case.
