Germany leapt across Brazil and Argentina to move grasp the top spot in the Fifa rankings released yesterday after winning the Confederations Cup last week.
The world champions beat Chile 1-0 in the tournament played in Russia, a year out from the 2018 World Cup to guarantee a first return to the top of the rankings in more than two years.
Brazil has the second spot whereas Argentina is third on the list, just ahead of European champions Portugal.
