LEAs summoned after clash breaks out between students at Gomal University

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Pakistan Army personnel were summoned to control a clash between students at the Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday.

Students belonging to the Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) had planned on holding a talent show at the Gomal University. However, a day earlier IJT students clashed with Pakhtun students in Punjab University during a cultural event, injuring 18 students.

The University revoked the permission given to IJT students to hold the talent show after the clashes and protest by Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF).

However, IJT students went ahead with their planned event rejecting the varsity’s orders.

Police, FC and the Pakistan Army were summoned as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order on campus. Even with the presence of law enforcers on campus, PSF students continued to disrupt the talent show and eventually, the police resorted to baton charging the students to disperse them.
