Ban on Indian movies end as screening of Kaabil begins in Karachi

Hrithik-Roshan starrer Kaabil screened in Pakistan, putting an end to the informal ban on Bollywood films in Pakistani cinemas.

The film was screened at Karachi’s Atrium Cinemas at 11 pm.

When news of its release reached Hrithik, the actor expressed his delight and hoped that the film will be enjoyed in Pakistan.

He took to social media to express his joy, as he tweeted, “Kaabil just released in Karachi tonite. India gave it so much love. Hope it gets the same love from Pakistan as well.”

The ban on Bollywood in Pakistan was announced by various cinema owners late September in response to the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA)’s ban on Pakistani actors, singers and technicians from working in India till “normalcy” returns. The ban from India was a reaction to the Uri attacks in Kashmir.

Kaabil is an action thriller about a blind man seeking vengeance for his wife’s (Yami Gautam) murder. It has been directed by Sanjay Gupta (of Jazbaafame) and produced by Rakesh Roshan.
