LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Keqiang and to the people of China at their New Year.
The chief minister also wished New Year to Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, Chinese Counsel General appointed at Lahore Ling Ding Bin and all the Chinese engineers, technicians and workers working at different projects in Pakistan.
The chief minister applauded all of them who are away from their families at the auspicious day, working for the progress of Pakistan, the completion of the development projects will bring glory to Pakistan by boosting up its economy and promoting investments, he added.
The CM appreciated the efforts of engineers and workers in the country and said that “work ethics of Chinese workers conveyed us a strong message that work and professional commitment is more important than personal happiness”. Sharif attributed China’s economic progress to the loyalty of Chinese people to the cause of fighting against poverty, unemployment and injustice.
Sharif also acknowledged sincerity of China towards the development projects, “China is sincere and trustworthy friend of Pakistan who always stood by us at the hour of need”, he added.
Sharif said that with the cooperation of China, CEPC project has been initiated which has not only strengthen friendly relations of both the country but also created a new history by opening up road to development.
“We attach great importance to the relationship with China and cherishes the trust and friendship between the two countries and our friendship is not limited to just CEPC rather cooperation in trade, investment, energy and communications would be strengthened”, he concluded.
