Growing relevance of rehabilitative medicine physiotherapy in modern day healthcare system demands its incorporation at an undergraduate level medical curriculum.
Senior doctors and medical teachers addressing a seminar, organised by Baqai Medical University, also sought need for a revised National Health Plan with equal attention towards pharmacology and pharmacy.
Prof Fazal Hussain, Prof Khalid Shaukat, Dr Mehwash Shamim and others said it was not only that the individual in this mechanised world is more prone to accidents and related incapacities but emerging health conditions also demand proper understanding about the updated interventions.
Acknowledging that pharmacology has already been incorporated as a fully fledged subject at MBBS level, the speakers said attention is needed to be paid towards better research opportunities for students pursuing pharmacy.
The needed health plan, they said, must focus on quality education and training for manpower needed in the fields of pharmacy, physiotherapy and varied fields of medicine.
