A new Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) has been issued for security of educational institutions of Islamabad following which two or three weapon licenses would be issued to them.
According to sources, all heads of educational institutions have been directed by Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to forward applications to Chief Commissioner Islamabad in case, they needed weapon licenses for security purpose of their educational institutions.
FDE has also directed to erect vigilance points near school buildings and appoint trained security staff there.
It has been also directed to purchase new devices for checking of vehicles and make emergency exits in institutions.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police have also asked the officials of schools administration to install CCTV cameras within the school and height of boundary walls should be at least 8 feet.
It has been asked to keep one gate for entry and exit and ensure complete verification of those working as security guards, canteen staffers and those giving pick and drop service.
