ISLAMABAD-
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday took up for hearing applications against the 21st constitutional amendment and planned formation of military courts to try hardcore terrorists, private media reported.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk heard initial arguments by counsel of the Lahore High Court Bar Association Hamid Khan.
LHCBA had maintained in its application that setting up military courts is against basic structure of the country’s constitution.
The bench, after initial arguments, directed to issue notices to the attorney general and four provincial advocate generals and asked to them submit written replies in the next hearing on February 12.
