Several people received burn injuries and more than 150 huts gutted when a fire broke out at Mir Munawar Talpur village in district Tando Allahyar on late Sunday night.
According to the residents of the area, the fire broke out when food was being cooked in a hut. A spark, which was caused by the fire, soon ignited the entire area due to the strong winds. The blaze engulfed the huts within minutes due to stormy winds killing four buffalos. Several women and children sustained injuries during rescue efforts.
Food, clothes, beds and other valuable goods, including dowry of several girls were destroyed by the blaze. Fire Brigade from Hyderabad and Tando Allah Yar cities rushed to the area but the blaze reduced the makeshift locality to ashes by the time they reached.
According to reports, people from Bhail, Kohli, Meghwar and Khosa tribes working for a local landlord Mir Mansoor Talpur were affected by the fire.
