30 killed in second Balochistan quake

The death toll from Saturday’s earthquake in Balochistan’s Awaran district has risen to 30.

The earthquake was the second to hit the region in one week, following Tuesday’s quake which killed over 650 people.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the second quake was 96 kilometers north east of Awaran district.

The quake also jolted Karachi, Naushero Feroze, Shahdat Kot, Jacobabad, Jafarabad, Naseerabad, Khuzdar, Kalat, Pishin, Kharan and other areas.

According to Awaran Distrcit Police Officer Ashraf Jatak, the earthquake killed 15 people in Mashkay town of Awaran whereas many are still feared trapped under the rubble.
