In a crackdown, 291 government vehicles were taken back from Capital Development Authority (CDA) officers and board members, as they were allowed to keep only one vehicle.

According to sources, CDA Chairman Tahir Shahbaz had banned the use of more than one vehicle and had directed officers to return extra vehicles to CDA. Because of the ban, the chairman took back 291vehicles from the authority’s officers.

Sources said that the annual expenditure on repairs and fuel of 134 double cabin vehicles recovered was Rs 67.3 million. Now the vehicles would be in common use and employees of the civic authority would be able to use them when needed.
