Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) strongly criticised the massive raise in petroleum products, saying that it would hit trade and industry besides increasing inflation. Rejecting the unjust increase in the petroleum prices, President ICCI Yassar Sakhi Butt, urged the government to withdraw as it would affect all segments of society. He said it was the second major hike in POL prices in just one month.
He said that the current increase would have devastating impact on the industrial sector as cost of raw materials and transportation of goods would increase manifold. He expressed concern on sluggish production activities in the industrial sector due to power load shedding. He stressed that the government must device a proper mechanism to meet the energy demand.
