Suspected drug dealer killed in Pak Colony encounter

KARACHI: A suspected drug dealer was killed in an alleged encounter in Pak Colony early on Sunday, according to officials.

A police spokesperson said police, along with a federal civilian agency, carried out a joint operation in Old Golimar after receiving information about the presence of gang-war suspects and drug dealers in the area.

The spokesperson said the suspects opened fire when they saw the law enforcers, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which one suspect, identified as Mairaj alias Choto, was killed. Officials said a grenade, as well as arms and ammunition, was recovered from his possession.

Police said the dead suspect had been involved in gang-related activity and was allegedly operating a narcotics network in Old Golimar and nearby localities. South DIG Syed Asad Raza said Mairaj alias Choto, a resident of Dost Mohammed Village in Old Golimar, was linked to the Sajid and Wajid gang and had been involved in murder, targeted killings, extortion, drug peddling and other serious offences.
