Three killed in separate security incidents in KP

PESHAWAR: Three people, including two children, were killed and several others injured in separate security-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bajaur and Lower South Waziristan areas, according to police and witnesses.

In Bajaur, an exchange of fire took place between law-enforcement personnel and militants in the Malakana Dama Dola area of Mamund tehsil. Police said the firing by militants led to the deaths of two children, Abu Huraira and Owais, both sons of Ibrahim.

Four other people were injured in the incident. The injured were identified as Kulsoom, Junaid and Hilal, while one other wounded person was not named in the report. They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Niaz Muhammad confirmed the incident. Authorities said the situation in the area remained tense after the exchange of fire.

Cross-border shelling in Angoor Adda

In a separate incident in Lower South Waziristan, mortar and artillery shells fired from across the border fell in Angoor Adda Bazaar. One of the shells struck a bakery, killing the shopkeeper, Aziz Rehman Wazir, on the spot.

Two of his brothers were also injured and taken to Wana hospital. One of the injured, who had initially been reported in critical condition, was later said to be stable.

The shelling caused panic in the area and led to the closure of shops in the bazaar. Activists and tribal elders strongly condemned what they described as repeated shelling incidents in recent weeks.

Area remains tense

The two incidents added to security concerns in border and conflict-affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Bajaur, officials said tensions persisted in the aftermath of the clash, while in Angoor Adda, local reaction was marked by fear and anger following the shelling.

Police and witnesses provided details of the casualties in both incidents. No further official details were included in the report about the exchange of fire in Bajaur or the cross-border shelling in South Waziristan.
