South Waziristan residents report prolonged mobile, internet disruption

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Residents in several parts of South Waziristan say they have been dealing with serious communication problems for the past two months because of disrupted mobile network signals.

People living in Wana, Birmal, Tanai, Azam Warsak and Kalotai said the continued disruption of internet services had affected routine life, commercial activity and their children’s education.

According to residents, mobile connectivity and internet access have remained unstable across a number of areas in the district. They said that during the last two months, signals were either extremely weak or entirely unavailable in large parts of South Waziristan.

Locals said voice communication had also been affected, with poor sound quality, frequent call drops and long delays before calls could connect. They said these issues had made it difficult for people to stay in contact.

Internet users in the area also described extended slowdowns in service. They said low speeds and unstable connections had made it hard to send messages, use online platforms and complete digital transactions.

Residents cite impact on daily life

The disruption has affected multiple aspects of life in the district, according to residents who spoke about the issue. They said the lack of dependable service had created difficulties not only for personal communication but also for business-related work and educational needs.

Residents said the ongoing problems had persisted without improvement for around two months, leaving many people in the affected localities struggling to access basic mobile and internet services consistently. They urged the relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure the provision of reliable mobile and internet services in the district.

Response from authorities unavailable

Efforts were made to seek a response from the officials concerned, but no reply could be obtained.

The affected areas identified by residents include Wana, Birmal, Tanai, Azam Warsak and Kalotai, where people said communication services have remained unreliable. They said both calling and internet use had become increasingly difficult because of weak signals, interruptions and unstable connectivity.

Residents said the issue had now become a sustained problem rather than a temporary disruption, with communication challenges continuing to affect everyday activities across the district.
