LAHORE: Arrangements have been completed for the upcoming Baisakhi festival as well as the 327th birth anniversary of the Khalsa, with Sikh pilgrims from India scheduled to enter Pakistan on April 10 through the Wagah border.
Officials will receive the pilgrims at Wagah, where a formal welcome has been planned on their arrival. Preparations for the religious events have been made by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in coordination with the Punjab government.
According to the details available, the arrangements cover security, accommodation, healthcare and transport for the visiting pilgrims. Authorities have put in place what were described as comprehensive measures to facilitate the visitors during their stay in Pakistan for the celebrations.
Security has been tightened on the routes designated for the pilgrims, while the departments concerned have been placed on alert. The measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of visitors and the orderly conduct of the festival-related activities.
Key Sikh religious sites have also been prepared for the occasion. Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Panja Sahib are among the locations that have been decorated ahead of the celebrations. Necessary facilities have been arranged at these sites to support pilgrims expected to visit during the festival period.
Preparations for religious gatherings
The annual Baisakhi celebrations draw Sikh pilgrims to important religious sites in Pakistan, and this year’s observances will also coincide with the commemoration of the 327th birth anniversary of the Khalsa. In view of the expected arrivals, the ETPB and the Punjab government have finalised logistical and administrative preparations in advance.
The arrangements include comfortable lodging for pilgrims, medical assistance and transport services, alongside security planning on travel routes and at religious venues. Authorities have also focused on readiness at major gurdwaras linked to the celebrations.
With the pilgrims due to arrive on April 10, official preparations are now complete, and the reception and facilitation plan is in place for the start of the Baisakhi events.
