MIANWALI: Flood-like conditions have developed in the Kundal Chhrawala area of Isa Khel after a rise in water levels in the River Kurram, with floodwater entering hundreds of houses and submerging thousands of acres of standing crops.
On the first day, 205 people were shifted to safer locations, while an additional 29 stranded individuals were rescued on the following day. Authorities said persistent heavy rainfall, especially during the last three days, has aggravated the situation. As a result, hundreds of residents have remained trapped in floodwater for a second straight day.
Rescue 1122 teams have been carrying out relief and evacuation work in the affected area. According to the details provided, 205 people were moved to safer places on the first day of the operation, while 29 more stranded individuals were rescued the following day. The rescue effort was continuing at the time of the report.
A total of 60 rescuers are participating in the operation. The teams are working with six boats, five ambulances and other rescue vehicles to reach affected residents and shift them to safer locations.
In a separate incident in the Kundal area, an 18-year-old boy, identified as Zafar Iqbal, was swept away by a strong current while trying to cross a stream. Rescue 1122’s water rescue team responded and saved him.
The flooding has caused extensive damage in Kacha Kundal, where water entered residential localities and inundated large areas of ready wheat crops. Thousands of acres of standing crops had gone under water as the river swelled and rain continued to worsen conditions.
Rescue operation continues in affected areas
The emergency response has remained focused on evacuating stranded residents and managing the impact of the flooding in low-lying localities. Officials said the operation was still under way as teams continued to work in inundated areas.
The latest situation reflects the impact of the surge in the River Kurram on settlements and farmland in Isa Khel’s Kundal Chhrawala area, where homes have been flooded and agricultural land has been badly affected.
The flooding in Kacha Kundal has particularly affected residential areas and wheat fields that were ready for harvest, adding to losses faced by local residents.
