Aleem Khan directs faster progress on Sindh highway projects

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the regional office of the National Highway Authority (NHA) in Karachi on Tuesday, presiding over a high-level review meeting to assess ongoing infrastructure projects across Sindh.

During the session, the minister was briefed in detail on progress across key highways, including the N-120, N-110, N-5, N-55, and the M-6 motorway. Discussions focused on removing administrative bottlenecks, reviewing security concerns, and ensuring uninterrupted operational flow for road users.

Aleem Khan underscored that delays on pending projects would no longer be tolerated, stressing strict adherence to construction quality and transparency standards. He approved the formation of dedicated teams to address highway-related issues throughout Sindh and mandated a uniform design and structural layout for all future toll plazas in the province.

The minister also reviewed plans for the repair and expansion of bridges and conducted a strategic assessment of the toll tax collection system. To motivate staff performance, he announced special incentives for NHA employees who meet annual revenue targets and achieve key project milestones.

To maintain accountability, Aleem Khan directed the NHA general manager to submit weekly progress reports, giving priority to rehabilitation work. The meeting reflected the federal government’s push to expedite infrastructure development in Sindh while enhancing operational efficiency and oversight across major road networks.
